June 18, 2024, BOSTON, MA- On the 12th anniversary of DACA, President Biden is demonstrating his commitment to immigrant families with a new policy that will allow spouses that are aspiring U.S. citizens to apply for residency without leaving the country, ensuring families remain intact and thrive together.

National Parents Union President Keri Rodrigues said:

“This policy change is a significant step forward in keeping families together and providing stability to countless immigrant families who contribute so much to our communities. By allowing spouses of U.S. citizens to apply for residency without the fear of separation, we are honoring the fundamental values of family unity and support. This is not just a policy shift; it is a reaffirmation of our nation’s commitment to human dignity and family integrity.

The US immigration system has been broken for far too long. Our national polling shows immigration is a policy priority for the majority of American families. We need Congress to come together and pass bipartisan immigration reform that honors the contributions of immigrants in our country and creates a well-functioning and humane system that respects the rule of law and has clear and safe processes for effectively supporting those who have come to the US for a new life.

We applaud President Biden for taking this bold step and look forward to seeing its positive impact on families across the country.”
