National Parents Union Hosts Leaders from U.S. Department of Education for Community Conversation in Detroit, Michigan

DETROIT, MI – The National Parents Union (NPU) will host leaders from the U.S. Department of Education for a community conversation titled Your Voices Are Important on Thursday, September 5, 2024 from 4:30pm-6:30pmET with families in Detroit, Michigan.

Parents in attendance will have the opportunity to speak directly with members of the U.S. Department of Education including Cecily Darden, Director of Family Outreach and Haleemat Adekoyu, Public Affairs Specialist, and share their experiences and insights with K-12 education. Participants will share their lived experiences as parents navigating barriers that affect their children and families and ensure that real issues faced by Detroit families are heard by those who have the power to make change.

This is the first of four events the National Parents Union is hosting during their Detroit Parent Week of Action running September 5 through September 14th.
