“President Trump says we’ve gone from ‘worst to best.’ Families aren’t living in a recovery, they’re living in crisis.”
Washington, D.C., December 17, 2025 – National Parents Union President Keri Rodrigues issued the following statement in response to President Trump’s claims of economic success:
“President Trump says we’ve gone from ‘worst to best.’ Parents know that’s not true. Families aren’t living in a recovery, they’re living in crisis. One in four parents can’t afford basic necessities. Rent, groceries, childcare, and healthcare are crushing families. Inflation hasn’t been ‘stopped,’ it’s squeezing households every week. Tariffs and trade disruptions have only driven costs higher, and parents are paying the price.
Parents don’t need a victory lap or another ‘Big Beautiful Bill.’ We need relief. Real leadership means lowering everyday costs and confronting the healthcare crisis barreling toward families.
The real measure of economic success isn’t Wall Street gains or political theater in oversized ballrooms. It’s whether families can afford to live with dignity and security. Right now, too many cannot. That’s the verdict from the people buying the groceries. It’s time to stop the gaslighting and start delivering real solutions.”
