National Parents Union Statement on President Trump’s Economic Record as He Mocks American Families

Washington, DC, December 10, 2025 – The National Parents Union released the following statement in response to President Trump’s economic record as he mocks American families struggling with stagnant wages and higher prices:

“As President Trump jets into Pennsylvania and sneers that ‘affordability’ is just a political fad, parents are counting every dollar at the checkout line and praying they can stretch one more meal out of what’s in the pantry.

Blaming families for an affordability crisis that his own decisions have made worse is beyond out-of-touch and it’s a slap in the face to every mom and dad who has skipped meals so their kids don’t have to. From the moment this administration took office, American families have been pushed further to the edge, and now, during the holidays, Trump is telling us to teach our children to expect less and pretend that’s normal.

Right now, moms are at the pharmacy counter deciding which prescription to skip; families are delaying car repairs; and kids are hearing that Santa is on a tight budget this year. Their hardship is not imaginary as they carry the weight of every unexpected bill and every hard choice.

The American president is gaslighting American families on top of cruelty, wrapped in a campaign slogan. With no economic policies to tout, he is resorting to belittling American families ahead of the midterms. We know the truth. Families are hurting—and we will not be shamed into silence.”
