The National Parents Union Statement on SNAP Benefits as Recipients Left in Limbo

“The Trump Administration’s Cruelty Toward SNAP Recipients and Children Remains Unmatched,” Says NPU’s President

Washington, DC, November 8, 2025 – The National Parents Union released the following statement in response to SNAP benefit uncertainty:

“The Trump administration’s cruelty toward SNAP recipients and children remains unmatched. While families across the country are scraping together grocery money and struggling to keep up with the cost of living, Donald Trump is busy building ballrooms and throwing parties for his rich friends.

One in five American kids relies on SNAP just to eat. These are our babies, our students, our neighbors’ children, and this administration has decided- and actively argued- they can go hungry.

Families made their voices loud and clear at the polls this week. We are sick of it. We are sick of being ignored, sick of watching the powerful play games with our lives while pretending to care about “working people.”

We will not let voters forget who chose cruelty over compassion- and we urge members of Congress to stand up for American families and support the Bipartisan Hawley SNAP Solution that would fund the program during the ongoing shutdown. While Congress continues to deal in dysfunction and keep the government closed- feeding America’s families should never get caught in the crossfire.”
