What happened last night in Acworth was a disgrace and a direct assault on the democratic rights of the people of Cobb County…under the watch of Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, a constituent was stun gunned-yes, stun gunned– for daring to speak up at a public town hall. Six others were forcibly removed for asking basic questions about rising prices and chaos in our country.   That’s not leadership. That’s not representation. That’s abuse of power.

Town halls are supposed to be sacred spaces in our democracy where the people who pay the salaries of elected officials can speak, challenge, and demand answers. Instead, what we saw was a violent crackdown on dissent. A warning shot to anyone who might have the courage to question authority.

Representative Greene doesn’t just owe her constituents an explanation, she owes them accountability. We will not allow this brand of authoritarian showboating to go unchecked.

The National Parents Union stands with every single person who refuses to be silenced. We are watching, we are organizing, and we will meet this moment with the full force of people power.
