The National Parents Union commends the Biden Administration for taking the unprecedented step to create the Office of Gun Violence Prevention and accelerate the advocacy and policy work needed to reduce gun violence—the number one cause of death for children in the United States.
We are optimistic that this more proactive approach, led by Vice President Kamala Harris, will result in future advancements to keep our kids safe and prioritize the innocent lives taken too often as a result of gun violence.
For too long we have met the gun violence crisis in our nation with thoughts and prayers instead of urgent action and true reform. We are excited to see the Biden Administration take steps to ensure that our schools and communities are safer – hopefully, this will finally result in the real action that our children, parents and families have been demanding for decades.
