NPU President Keri Rodrigues Issues Statement on Darryl George’s CROWN Act Trial in Texas

February 22, 2024—Boston, Massachusetts– The National Parents Union President, Keri Rodrigues, released a statement following Darryl George’s CROWN Act trial in Texas:

“I am appalled and saddened by the outcome of Darryl George’s case. Darryl is an 18 year old young man, who deserves to live a normal life and attend school like the rest of his classmates. In this case, administrators have shown their true colors by causing more chaos and harm to both Darryl and to the hundreds of children of color in the Barbers Hill Independent School District—and this reality is wrong and infuriating. The National Parents Union looks forward to supporting Darryl through his federal civil rights lawsuit and ensuring the CROWN Act is modified to include all necessary protections from racist school policies and administrators.”
