Rochester, N.Y. — A workshop was held Saturday afternoon for community members to come together and reimagine Rochester schools.

Parents, educators, and students joined local education leaders to share stories, experiences, and aspirations for the future.

“Parents at one point have been left out of the conversation when it comes to standards and quality of education,” said Ashara Baker, New York State director, National Parents Union. “So, for parents to be a part of the table, a table that could be collective and unison with school administrators, teachers, and community members to build the schools that our kids and community members deserve. That is a conversation of having parents a part of.”

Many are taking the “Ready Pledge,” a public commitment to implementing innovative learning practices to support teachers and students.
